Our Story

Hello World! And welcome to our blog :) It'll be mostly my blog since Kris is currently in Korea for approximately 4 more months. It could be more, it could be less; you never know with the military. I created this blog so I could keep everyone informed about what is going on in our lives since Kris will be heading to Germany in May and I will be joining him in October after the wedding.

Let me start off by giving you a little background of Kris and I. We met 4 years ago on set of The Final in Dallas.

We stayed in touch after he and his twin brother, Kacy, went back to Altus, OK to where they are from. The boys come from a military family- Their dad Kurt (or as I call him Dok) is in the army and their mom, Holli, had the boys in El Paso. Below is a picture of Dok and the boys.

After keeping in touch for two years, Kris then asked me to his prom in 2010 and I said yes (of course!).

After another 2 years of talking and Kris leaving for Korea in 2011 and me going to college and moving out and moving back home and blah blah blah... PRESENT DAY!

Well... present day as in January 15, 2012. I flew to Seattle where Grandma Nancy (Holli's mom) picked me up at the airport and took me shopping for a couple hours while we wait for Kris to fly in from Korea. One of his flights was cancelled somewhere in the mix and so he was delayed by 7 hours. It was nice to spend some quality time with Grandma Nancy doing what girls go best! At the airport, I stood with a homemade sign that said "Hurst" on it next to a man with a suit with a sign as well, but obviously for a customer. As soon as I saw Kris, my eyes filled up with tears and we ran to each other. When we embraced, it was like nothing I've ever felt before; all was right with the world and I wish that moment would have never ended.

Kris's suitcase however, did not make it in. The airline said that they would deliver it the next morning by 11 am, but Seattle was hit with some snow and so most everything was delayed. The snow was GORGEOUS! We literally spent all day inside playing a game of cards called Hand and Foot- it was SO much fun. That is one thing that I absolutely love about my fiance, he is so content with just staying in and playing cards all day :). By 3 pm, Kris's suitcase had arrived and Kris had called to reschedule our reservations at the Space Needle in downtown Seattle for 8pm. (why it was SO important to go there for dinner, I had NO idea) After we got ready, a cab picked us up and we drove for an hour in the snow!

After we ate, we ordered dessert and coffee. We ordered their most famous dessert that they have been serving since they opened in 1962- The Orbital. Then I saw the waitress bring over a large circular plate, I thought she was going to set the dessert on it so I brought out my camera. Instead, she set the plate in front of me and it said...
Kris then came around to my side and got down on one knee.. The next part is told in a sequence of pictures...

SO Kris asked me to marry him and of course I said YES!

We decided that we were mu too happy to be on Cloud 9... we were more likely on Cloud 11 or something! When Kris got down on one knee, people were clapping and cheering- it was so amazing. Kris was a little nervous so he fumbled with the box some (it was the cutest thing ever) and we were both shaking trying to get the ring on my finger! Here are some pics of us after most of the tears...
My handsome man! How could anyone say no??

On the cab ride home we had an INSANE french man who did not even have a GPS... what cab driver in 2012 does not have a GPS? He kept asking us where to go as if we lived there or even knew we were going. Finally after driving around for over an hour in the snow and ice, stopping in the middle of intersections, cursing and yelling, and BOTH of our phones dying, we just asked the driver to drop us off at a gas station in town. Thankfully Kris had written Grandma Nancy's phone number on his hand before my phone died!

So that is pretty much the engagement story!

Stay Strong,

Kris and Tara
